This is my fun page! Nature and wildlife photography takes me back so far, deeply rooted in a love for the outdoors that’s been with me since childhood. Growing up on a small family farm, I was fortunate to have endless fields, forests, rivers, and creeks to explore—whenever I wasn't helping with chores, of course. From a young age, I spent my days observing the critters around me—snakes, turtles, deer, raccoons, and opossums were my companions.
As I grew older, my curiosity expanded to birds, especially birds of prey—my “BOPs,” as I fondly call them. Around 10 years ago, I was able to invest in a 600mm lens, and it completely transformed how I could experience nature. Suddenly, I could observe these majestic creatures from a distance, without disturbing them, which deepened my connection to them.
If you're a bird lover or nature enthusiast, you know the thrill of seeing wildlife up close, and the way a long lens or powerful binoculars can make you feel a part of their world. It’s a kind of quiet addiction that keeps me coming back—forever learning, exploring, and discovering new aspects of the creatures I love.
Wildlife has endless mysteries to offer, and I find so much joy in studying their behavior. What are they eating? Why do they preen themselves after a meal? How does an owl eat its prey whole, or what causes it to cast a pellet? These small details make every outing an adventure and every photograph an opportunity to capture something meaningful.
What started as a fascination with birds has blossomed into an ongoing journey of discovery. I’ve been fortunate to travel to some extraordinary places in my search for wildlife—from the snowy landscapes of Chicago, where I saw a variety of owls, to the vibrant forests of Algonquin Provincial Park in Canada, and the awe-inspiring mountains of Yellowstone National Park, and worldwide to discover so much fascinating flora, fauna, and landscape.
