Below are a few of my favorite locations. Please inquire if you have questions about a specific location, or if you would like a session at a location not shown.
Cape Henlopen State Park- Oceanside & Bayside (Rehoboth Beach & Lewes)
Cape Henlopen State Park offers a variety of stunning locations, including "Herring Point" & "The Point" (Lewes Entrance) & Gordon's Pond (Rehoboth Entrance). From sandy beaches with gorgeous shorelines, sand dunes, curated walking paths, and rock jetties, to stunning Pine forests. All locations offer easy access and large parking lots, so no fighting the crowds or circling parking spaces at the beaches off the boardwalk.
Cape Shores Fishing Pier- Bayside (Lewes)
Cape Shores is a private community located between the Lewes/Cape May Ferry, & Cape Henlopen State Park Lewes entrance. While a private community, the beach is public. This is a fantastic location for photos, especially in the evening when the sun streams through the pylons supporting the pier. Photos also look great on the pier. At low tide, there are sandbars which are great for posing couples!
Dewey Beach & Towers Beach
Dewey Beach is your quintessential "small beach town" that hasn't lost it's charm. Dewey's beaches care-free, and offer easy access from multiple access points located most every block up and down the length of Dewey. These beaches can get busy, and I most often suggest taking photos at Towers Beach which is located 5 minutes south where Dewey Beach turns into state park.
Indian River Inlet Bridge (Oceanside & Bayside)- Between Dewey Beach & Bethany Beach
Located approximately equidistant between Dewey Beach & Bethany Beach, next to The Big Chill Surf Club, the Indian River Inlet bridge offers a spectacular & unique photo opportunity at both sunrise and sunset. The bridge is beautiful in and of itself, but the rock retaining wall is very visually appealing, and makes a great place to photograph on top of. Whether you are looking for family photos, engagement/proposal, or maternity, consider the Indian River Inlet Bridge.
York Beach- Oceanside (Bethany Beach & Fenwick Island)
York Beach, located at the south end of South Bethany Beach, is only about a 5 minute drive from Bethany Beach, but it feels like a world away. Where the city beach turns into State Park, the beaches widen, the seagrass is exposed, and there are often times no other people on the beach. Almost every time I introduce a new family to York Beach, they are blown away by both how serene this location is, as well as the fact that they cannot believe they have never been there before. The entire experience is elevated when the beach is not crowded. Access is literally at the end of a road in a residential neighborhood. Permit parking ends at 5:00 pm, so parking is extremely easy, and you do not need to worry about permit or paying for parking.
Pot Nets (Bayside) Long Neck
Pot Nets is located within a residential community in the Long Neck area, approximately 20 minutes south of Lewes. Pot Nets is one of my new, favorite, local photo locations due to the secluded location, boardwalk through a wetland, and the views of sunset. Given the boardwalk is fairly narrow, this location is best suited for a couple, or family of 4-5, not for large families. If you are looking for a non-beach, and off-the-beaten-path location, ask me about Pot-Nets.
Brittingham Farms (Millsboro, DE)
Brittingham Farms offers stunning Lavender Fields (mid June - late July), as well as open fields, unique tall grasses, and a pond. This family-owned, working farm has been meticulously and painstakenly curated into one of the most beautiful and up-and-coming venues in the area. The Brittingham family recently renovated a large barn for use as a wedding and event space. "Lamb Mini's" are also offered in the spring for around 4-5 days, and large, farm-to-table dinners are hosted from time to time. The farm is the perfect backdrop for weddings, engagements, family, and couple photo sessions.
Northern Delaware Parks (Wilmington & beyond)
Many of my clients come from northern DE, and PA, and are looking for gorgeous locations closer to home. Northern DE offers a variety of gorgeous photo backdrops such as Brandywine Creek State Park, Coffin Gardens, Winterthur Gardens, Longwood Gardens, Valley Garden Park, & many others). You really can't go wrong with any of these locations. Locations such as Winterthur, and Longwood, specifically close at 5:00 pm, while the others mentioned here are open much later.
