When it comes to photography sessions, it's nice to have options. I have never subscribed to a "one size fits all" belief for most anything. You probably wouldn't go to a restaurant if they only had one item. So, just like food menu items can be tailored to your palette, so should photography sessions. And while most of my sessions in general are very customizable, In this blog, I'm going to cover all the reasons why you should consider booking a mini-session before booking a full-session.
First off, what is a mini-session?- A mini-session is a condensed version of a full-session. Generally 10-15 minutes, as opposed to a full, one hour session, and we pack in as many amazing smiles, laughs, and photos as we can. Typically, with a full-session, you will pay several hundred dollars, and have access to all of the photos taken that day. With a mini-session, however, you pay a fraction of the price of a full-session, and have the best 5 photos delivered, and still have the opportunity to purchase the full gallery.
Why choose a mini-session? Two reasons:
1-Price.Simply put, a mini-session costs about 1/4 - 1/3 of a full-session, so it is far less expensive. You get the experience of being a model, get amazing photos, and for a fraction of the price.
2. Theme- Most mini-sessions are themed, so there is a unique appeal to each one. Here in Coastal Delaware, there are tons of fun, themed mini-sessions. From spring sunflower fields, summer beach day or lavender field, to fall pumpkin or leaves, to holiday sleigh photos, there are endless possibilities.
Who should book a mini-session? Mini-sessions are great for anyone with kids (or pets) who have a short attention span, or just busy moms and parents who don't have time in their busy days for an entire hour photo shoot, plus travel time and prep. I can tell you from experience that a one hour full-session with kids can sometimes be the longest hour in the world. We all know that kids can be moody, cranky, hungry, tired, whatever, and sometimes 10-15 minutes is just enough time to capture some amazing photos before your kid heads to crankytown.
Where? Since mini-sessions are a condensed version of a full-session, these can be held anywhere that a full-session can be, and many other locations. You, or your photographer is only limited by their imagination. For families, couples, and kids, I love the beach, the forests just inside the beach, and I often parter with local businesses to offer in-store options where I set up a little studio. For pets, I love the beach, and also parter with local businesses as well.
I have hosted several mini-sessions in the past, and have had great success. Clients love being able to get in and out, without as much of a time commitment. I have several ideas in the works for 2025, so stay tuned. Also, if you own a really cool farm, or location that you would be interested in partnering with me on, I would love to speak with you.
